Our Personality of the Month

Marla Davis Bellamy, J.D., M.G.A was recruited to the Katz School of Medicine at
Temple University in 2010 and is the Director of Philadelphia CeaseFire, a public
health evidence- based violence intervention prevention.

Prior to joining Temple, Marla was the Executive Director of the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia (AVP) and for 5 years served as Chief of Staff for the Pennsylvania Department of Health in Harrisburg, PA.

Other administrative positions that she has held include Executive Vice President of Special Projects at Universal Companies, Dir. of Community Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Executive Director of the Healthcare Management Alternatives (HMA) Foundation, Inc., and Government Relations Liaison for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in Washington, DC.

Marla served as a law clerk to the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. in Los Angeles and is a former radio talk show host at WURD-900 AM in Philadelphia.

She is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University where she holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications, a master’s degree from the Fels Center of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and a juris doctorate from Temple University School of Law. Under Marla’s vibrant leadership, Philadelphia CeaseFire is in partnership with CCD and our leadership have extended technical resources to strengthen and enhance the capacity of the organization and other local CVIs in the neighborhood.
