Personality of The Month Judith Brown Fears

Our Personality of the Month is our very own ebullient Community Coordinator, Judith Brown Fears, who was honored with a proclamation by NYC Council Woman Julie Won, at a special event celebrating Women’s History Month in March. Judy Brown Fears joined Community Capacity Development as the NYC Community Coordinator to expand the organizations reach by maintaining and creating high quality relationships within the community the organization serves. In addition, her focus is to build community programs, resources, services and capacity building with community organizations, education and businesses. Ms. Fears worked for Brooklyn Kindergarten Society at their Weeksville Center in Brooklyn as the Director of Community Outreach working in this historic neighborhood bringing community programs, resources and services to the community. She served as a site Director for Harlem Commonwealth Council, an organization that advocates for Harlem residents through education and entrepreneurial empowerment Ms. Fears was the program manager for the YWCA of Greater Atlanta TGI TECH program (Teen Girls in Technology). The TGI TECH program is designed for girls to experience communicating and working with female role models in underrepresented careers of science, technology and engineering. Ms. Fears served as a catalyst for young girls in under-represented communities to help strengthen and prepare them for opportunities in new fields such as computer science, forensic science, biotechnology, environmental science and more.
Ms. Fears holds a B.A. in Business Education from Clark Atlanta University and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction –Technology, University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Technology and Cultural Diversity from Walden University. Ms. Fears is certified in various areas of Instructional Technology and has taught Professional Development workshops Integrating technology in the classroom for education programs at Clark Atlanta University and Morris Brown College, the University
of the Autonomous Regions of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua (URACCAN) and developed curriculum

strategies to integrate technology for Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology in the Kansas City, Missouri school district.
Judy Brown Fears a native New Yorker a mother of two sons, Joseph and John and grandmother of three. She is an active member of various community organizations that focus on youth, social justice and cultural diversity. She loves to travel, cook and spoil her grandchildren.
