CCD Team at the White House

As a” Core-5” member of the White House Community violence intervention collaborative CVIC, the CCD team led by Demetrius Similien, our National Coordinator, was at the White House to participate in the National Training and Technical Assistance Convening on December 8. This convening was the culmination of an 18-month strategic initiative launched by the Biden-Harris administration that convenes community violence intervention organizations, elected officials, national funders and federal agencies to strengthen the capacity of community-based violence intervention organizations in reducing violence and create safe communities. Our leadership in driving this national initiative as “Core-5” members has received great commendation from stakeholders and partners as we continue to foster collaboration in local and national advocacy and also provide training and technical assistance to grassroot CVI organizations. In his message to the session, K. Bain says “As the country grapple with the compounding public health crisis of CVID-19 pandemic and the global resentment on the murder of George Floyd, the best metrics for success of CVI strategies is a continued investment in the Human Justice Framework. This evidence-based model amplifies intergenerational communication by implementing people-centered programs to reduce violence and ensure resources are deployed to those directly impacted by systemic inequities”
